Umstellung auf Naturdeo: Was in den ersten zwei Wochen passiert

Switching to natural deodorant: What happens in the first two weeks

In short: When switching from an antiperspirant to a natural deodorant, your body typically needs one to two weeks. During this time, you may feel like you sweat more than usual – this is normal and will subside. Afterwards, your skin will regulate itself, and the natural deodorant will reliably keep odors away.

Why is there a transition phase at all?

An antiperspirant seals the exits of the sweat glands with aluminum salts – so for months or years, you have sweated less than your body intended. When this seal is removed, sweat flows normally again. This initially feels like "more," but it is simply your natural level. At the same time, the bacterial flora of the underarm skin adjusts to the new environment. Both together result in the famous 1-2 weeks of transition.

Week by week: What to expect

Day 1–3: Business as usual

The first few days usually work without problems – FINE Deo neutralizes odor-causing bacteria from the very first application. A pea-sized amount per armpit is enough.

Day 4–10: The actual transition

Now it can become wetter than usual, and some perceive their own body odor more strongly. This is the moment when many give up – too early. Stay at it: If necessary, simply reapply briefly at midday.

From week 2: The new normal

The skin sensation settles in, the odor protection is reliably effective – with FINE Deocremes, thanks to the rich fat base, for up to 24 hours, even during sports.

5 tips for a successful transition

  1. Apply sparingly: A pea-sized amount per armpit is enough – more product does not mean more effect.
  2. Allow to absorb briefly before getting dressed – this keeps clothes clean.
  3. Patience during days 4–10: The temporary increased sweating is your body, not the product. It will pass.
  4. For sensitive skin or baking soda intolerance: Start directly with Senza – without essential oils and without baking soda, with gentle magnesium hydroxide.
  5. Immediately after shaving? No problem: FINE Deocremes contain no alcohol – nothing burns.

When you should take a closer look

Redness or itching are usually a sign that your skin is sensitive to baking soda – no reason to give up, but the moment to switch to the baking soda-free Senza variant. In case of persistent skin reactions, as always: Discontinue product and seek medical advice.

Frequently asked questions about the transition

Do I have to take a "deodorant break" before switching? No. You can switch directly from antiperspirant to deodorant cream – the transition happens on its own.

How long does one jar last? A 30g jar lasts about two to three months with daily, economical use.

Which format is best for getting started? For the daily routine, the glass jar; for on the go, the tube; for familiar handling, the roll-on – the format comparison helps with the choice. You can read why FINE generally works without aluminum here.
